Living, Learning, and Designing
Hi, I'm Shanmukhi — just another human out here trying to make sense of it all. By day I'm designing things to hopefully make your life easier, by night I'm locked in the eternal debate of what's for dinner.
Spoiler: it's Rice with Indian Pickle & Omelette.
When I'm not designing you'll find me taking long walks to nowhere, procrastinating, day-dreaming, or convincing myself I have it all together.
Do I have all the answers? Absolutely not. But I make it interesting.
Welcome to my little corner of chaos!!!
My Personality 🧛♀️
I’m shy at first, but once you get to know me, my sarcasm comes out in full force.
Hobbies I Love 🌇
I enjoy long walks and beaches, especially when it ends with a sunset.
Dog Dilemma 🐶
I’m terrified of dogs, but can’t resist playing with the friendly ones.
Insect Fears 🪳
Cockroaches, spiders, you name it—I’m absolutely terrified of all insects.
Culinary Cravings 🥘
My cravings are always all over the place—I’ll want different cuisines all at once!
Horror Movie Paradox 🫣
I can't sleep after horror movies, but I still watch with my eyes half open!
In my first year of undergrad, I was deciding between AI, Data Science, Cyber Security, and UX Design. Even though my school canceled the UX concentration, I couldn’t shake my interest in it. So, I took matters into my own hands and began learning about UX design through a course on Internshala.
Attending a Growthschool session gave me the push to see this as a career, and I soon enrolled in CalArts’ UI/UX Design Specialization on Coursera. The projects I worked on solidified my passion and set me on the path to pursue UX design professionally.
Throughout my journey as a UX designer, I've had the opportunity to work with diverse teams and tackle a wide range of design challenges. From my early days as an intern, where I was creating UI designs and logos, to later roles where I helped streamline user experiences and enhance brand identities, each experience has been a stepping stone in shaping my design perspective.
My journey as a designer has taken me from kitchen tech to public health to AI EdTech — industries that have nothing in common except that users in all of them were frustrated. That's where I kept ending up, and honestly that's where I do my best work.
